Checker Marathon
New York City Taxi
This is a genuine 1980 Checker Motors Marathon,
fully restored and coverted into a NYC style TAXI.

It runs and drives with full functions, Air Conditioning,
Heating, Power Steering, V6 Automatic, etc.
Features foldable jump seats in the rear with seating for
five in the back, Eight total (including driver).

This model taxi was produced by Checker Motors from 1958 to 1982.
Many of these were in service until the mid 1990's.

There are currently less than 500 of these on the road today.

This is what we started with....

Original blue with white vinyl top.

Removal of the top revealed a rusted out roof...

...which was restored using a combo of fiberglass and bondo.

Paint job including the cutting and installation of the rear quater windows.
We added all the decals, top light, headliner and other details to get it looking sharp.

Unfortunatly, this car was sold to a collector so it is no longer available.
However, if this is your dream car and you want Bob's Prop Shop to build you one
of these just let us know and we can source you a good donor car and
do it up just like this one or better!
